• What exactly is concrete curbing?​

  • Concrete curbing (sometimes called continuous curbing or landscape edging) is a permanent, poured concrete border installed between your lawn, planter beds, walkways, or turf. Unlike plastic or wood edging, it's extruded directly into a trenched path around your yard, creating a single continuous piece rather than segments that can shift or separate. It defines clean lines between different areas of your landscape while creating a "mow strip" that eliminates string trimming.​

• Why choose concrete curbing over plastic or metal edging?

  • While plastic or metal edging from big-box stores may seem like a bargain at first, they are temporary solutions. Plastic edging becomes brittle under the Southern California sun, eventually cracking and "popping" out of the ground. Metal can rust or bend over time. Concrete curbing is a continuous, solid barrier. It reduces invasive grass and weeds from creeping into your planter beds—something thin plastic strips simply cannot do. Concrete curbing creates a "mow strip,"  allowing your lawnmower to ride directly on the edge, eliminating the need for string trimming and saving you hours of yard work every month.

  • Absolutely. Think of it as an investment rather than an expense. You typically have to replace or reset plastic or wood edging every 2–3 years due to weathering, mower damage, or soil movement. Over 10 years, you’ll spend more on replacements and labor than you would on a single concrete installation. Professional concrete curbing is considered a permanent home improvement and boosts "curb appeal" long term. It can actually increase your property value, whereas DIY plastic edging often looks "cheap" to potential buyers.

• Is concrete curbing worth the extra money? ​

  • Real estate experts agree that professional hardscaping offers one of the highest returns of any home improvement. While plants can die and wood can rot, concrete curbing is a permanent "fixed asset" that appraisers and buyers value.

• How much does concrete curbing cost?

  • Because every yard is unique, we provide free on-site estimates. However, to help with your planning, here are the typical ballpark ranges for 2026:

• How long does concrete curbing last?

  • When professionally installed by Kwik Kerb by Guido, your curbing is a permanent addition to your landscape. You can expect your concrete curbing to last 20 years or more if you care for it properly. Our specialized reinforced mix is designed to withstand the intense heat of the Inland Empire and the shifting clay soils of the Temecula Valley. The longevity of the curbing can lessen with aggressive impacts via mowers, cars, heavy equipment, etc., so caution is advised around your curbing. 

    • Maintenance Tip: To keep the colors vibrant and the surface protected, we recommend a simple reseal every 2–3 years. This keeps it looking brand new for decades. We use a higher quality polyurethane sealant, rather than a water based-- adding to your value over time.

• Does concrete curbing come with a warranty?​

  • We don't offer a formal, written warranty program. What we do offer is our standard of craftsmanship — we stand behind every project we complete, and if something isn't right, we'll work directly with you to make it right. If having a specific warranty matters to your decision, we're happy to talk through what that looks like for your project.

• Will the concrete crack?

  • ​Concrete is a rigid material, and all concrete eventually wants to crack. However, we prevent visible, ugly cracks by placing intentional expansion joints every few feet. This "tells" the concrete where to expand and contract, keeping any movement hidden within the joints rather than across the face of your curb. This gives your concrete curb the best possible foundation to not crack over time.

• Is the color painted onto the curbing, or is it built into the concrete?​

  • We use a surface-hardened color process, where the pigment is worked into the concrete itself during finishing — not a topical paint or coating. That's why it doesn't chip, peel, or wear off the way a painted surface would over time.

Installation & Process:

• Do I need to be present during the installation?

  • ​​You don't need to be home for the entire installation, but we do ask that you're available beforehand to walk the project with us and confirm the layout, and available afterward to review the finished work. We'll coordinate access to your yard ahead of time.

• Will the installation damage or disturb my existing lawn and landscaping?

  • ​​No. Our equipment is designed to be low-impact and highly maneuverable — the same specialized machinery we use to curve tightly around existing trees and garden beds means we don't need the heavy equipment that can tear up lawns or damage root systems. Most projects leave your yard cleaner than we found it.

• Can you install curbing around my existing trees and plants?

  • ​​Yes! Our specialized equipment is designed to be low-impact and highly maneuverable. We can create perfect tree rings and flowing garden borders around your mature landscaping without the need for heavy machinery that could damage your lawn or root systems. We can even work within a 3-foot radius for tight curves.

• Do you handle HOA approval or permits for my project?

  • ​​No — HOA approval and any required permits are the homeowner's responsibility to secure before installation. We're happy to provide project details, measurements, or documentation you might need for your HOA submission, but coordinating that approval process is on your end.

• Does concrete curbing save water? 

  • ​By replacing high-thirst grass with drought-tolerant 'xeriscaping' and using concrete curbing to frame rock or mulch beds, you can reduce your outdoor water usage by 20–50%, according to the EPA's WaterSense program.

• How does concrete curbing help with erosion?

Artificial Turf Questions: 

​

• Can you install curbing after my turf is already in?

  • ​​Our preferred method is to install edging BEFORE the turf is laid. Contact us for more details regarding your specific situation.

• How long after the curbing is poured can my turf installer start?

  • ​​We recommend a minimum of 24–48 hours of cure time before turf installation begins, depending on weather conditions. In the summer heat of the Inland Empire, concrete's surface hardens faster, but we still recommend verifying it's fully cured before giving your turf installer the green light, rather than relying on time alone.

• Do I need to tell my turf installer I'm getting concrete curbing first?

  • ​Yes, and it matters more than most people realize. Your turf installer needs to know the curbing will be in place so they can account for it in their measurements and edging technique. The good news is that most experienced local turf companies in the Temecula Valley are already familiar with this sequencing and will adjust their process accordingly.​

• Does the curbing help prevent weeds from growing in my turf?

  • ​​One of the biggest benefits of a permanent lawn border is the root barrier. It significantly reduces the chance of invasive Bermuda grass or weeds creeping under the edge of your synthetic turf.

• What curbing profile works best for a putting green vs. a play area vs. a pet zone?

  • ​For backyard putting greens, we typically recommend a flat mower's edge profile — it allows the turf to sit perfectly flush and gives that golf-course finish. For play areas, a slightly rounded or slant profile works well because it softens the edge for kids running near it. For pet zones, we recommend our full 7-inch profile because it provides the most resistance to digging along the perimeter and holds up to heavy activity without shifting.

Pet-Friendly Questions:

• Is the concrete mix safe for my dogs and cats?

  • ​Yes. Once cured, our concrete is a non-toxic hardscaping material. It doesn't contain the chemical treatments found in some pressure-treated wood, nor the sharp edges found in brittle plastic or metal edging.

• Can my dog dig under the curbing?

  • ​​Our curbing is installed with a specialized trenching process. This creates a dig-proof barrier that makes it much more difficult for dogs to tunnel under fences or into restricted garden areas.

• How does curbing help with backyard hygiene?

  • ​​By creating clear zones for dog runs, curbing makes cleanup significantly easier. It prevents pet-safe mulch or bark from mixing with your grass, keeping your yard cleaner and your house free of tracked-in debris.
